Arne Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it's natural for doubts to be asked about his position following another convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the team's poorest streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got a lot of support from management,” the coach stated.

“It's important to turn it around and get a victory of course but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my situation. It is not the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this match so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Reaction

The manager highlighted familiar shortcomings from his squad in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a phase of this nature with outcomes this poor.”

He concluded, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And until it is removed, we'll continue to battle.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to its rightful place, show everyone again what this club is about and why it's known as the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and it must improve.”
