Beloved Performer Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Recognized For Parts in Seinfeld and The Middle, Passes Away at Age 60.
Stateside entertainer Pat Finn, who featured in beloved programs including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer passed away at his residence in LA recently after undergoing treatment for cancer since 2022, as reported by news outlets.
"Pat never met a stranger - only friends he hadn't encountered," his loved ones shared in a statement.
They added that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".
A Notable Television Career
His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.
He subsequently landed a repeating character on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He starred as Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a host known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.
During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous popular shows, like:
- The King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House
He was most recognized for playing Bill Norwood in "The Middle", appearing throughout eight series over nearly a decade.
His work in movies include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
A Life in Improv
Beyond his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was a member of a six-person improv troupe known as Beer Shark Mice.
"He coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils throughout the years and it's nearly impossible to find anyone anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.
Offering condolences, peer actor Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote online.
Pat Finn is remembered by his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his family.
