Brian Eno Encourages Support to Send Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A campaign is aiming to propel a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The effort seeks to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.
An Opportunity for Support and an "Surprise Victory"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, festive releases are a category of their own.”
Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.
“The song holds a very special place for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we seek to lead a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Production History and Contributing Musicians
The single was laid down after a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. Originally intended to be performed and recorded live, the piece was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.
The diverse array of performers appearing on Lullaby features a range of acclaimed names from the scene. All were part of the earlier concert, which successfully generated a considerable total for relief efforts.
Production and Release
Lullaby was produced by a team of music creators. The song showcases a combination of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.
The group managing the initiative have clarified that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an established charity.
“We haven't set a specific target,” a representative commented. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Of course, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”
The reality in the area was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure said to be destroyed or damaged.
“Given that reality, a couple of million doesn’t make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and showing the human dimension of the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is launching this Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a digital service from mid-December.
