England's Coach Southee Uncertain on The Ashes Participation
The bowler's last Test for the Kiwis was against the English side in the final month of 2024.
England fast-bowling advisor Tim Southee is currently evaluating the extent of his role will be at the forthcoming Ashes contest in the host nation.
The former Kiwi seamer is only likely to be present for the opening match because of his participation in the ILT20 tournament, which begins on 2 December in the UAE.
Southee, 36, took up a role as the English team's pace bowling advisor in the summer after claiming 391 wickets in 107 Tests for New Zealand.
Speaking as the English team for the first of three T20 matches against New Zealand was announced, he stated of his participation: "We are still evaluating the situation at the moment.
"We'll see what happens over the coming days."
English bowling legend Stuart Broad had declared the Australia side as their "weakest squad since 2010", but the consultant was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the series, which begins on November 21.
"In my view there's ever a poor Aussie side," he said.
"Our focus is squarely on what we're trying to do. In my opinion the quality of [the English] team that's going out to Australia is excellent.
"It ought to be an absolute cracker, that series. Not just [are|do] fans from both nations eagerly anticipate it, I believe the entire cricketing community is."
But, prior to England head to the city of Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they take on New Zealand in Christchurch on this Saturday.
