Former Physician Charged with Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for carrying out assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
The Grave Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors outline the 45 charges he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
