Iran Claims Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in response for a "massive" and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported debris fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
