LA Battles Unprecedented High Temperatures Just Days After Major Winter Weather.
After enduring heavy downpours that caused flooding across sections of the city, Los Angeles is now grappling with unseasonably high temperatures for the end of February.
All-Time High Readings
On Friday midday, the thermometer soared to 33 degrees Celsius (91 Fahrenheit) in central LA, per data from weather officials. This breaks the prior high for February 27th, which was eighty-eight degrees Fahrenheit and was recorded just last year.
"Exceptionally warm weather" were noted on official charts for the region.
Public Health Advisories
Forecasters cautioned that Friday's conditions posed an "elevated risk for heat illness" for those at risk. Their advice suggested:
- Drinking plenty of fluids.
- Reducing outdoor activities during the peak heat of the day.
- Not leaving anyone unattended in a hot car.
An Extreme Reversal
This sudden spike in mercury arrives just after a massive storm system that struck the state recently. That system unleashed thunderstorms, high winds, and heavy snow to the mountains, triggering mudslide risks for many residents.

Weekend Outlook
The outlook suggests cooler conditions will arrive. Readings were predicted to decrease to around 61°F (16°C) in the city by late Friday.
Several cities that hit the 90-degree mark were Woodland Hills, Long Beach, and Burbank. Elsewhere, Oxnard, Westwood, Camarillo, and Santa Maria were projected to experience the upper eighties.
In the coming days, downtown Los Angeles can expect weather in the eighties, with cooler weather likely for the following week.
