Soccer Expert Sutton Battles Artist Murs in Premier League Predictions
Arsenal's ten-match victorious streak came to an end by the Black Cats prior to the international hiatus, but will the Premier League frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?
"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," stated football expert Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still find a way to win."
Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against AI, readers and a range of guests.
In week 12, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.
The singer's new album, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.
Soccer and Family Life
Murs is a talented footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of several charity football matches over time - but he is not planning a serious return as a player.
"{I recently played in a charity game the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "My side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!
"I continue to love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or boy decides to play instead."
Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have two children, Madison and Albert, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.
"I will not push football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday football side," he said.
"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a while too.
"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our team for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their offense is already stronger with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.
In my opinion this fixture will be quite close, however. Burnley are well organised and their only home losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.
This smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am in fact going to choose Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.
The expert's prediction: 1-2
Olly's pick: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3
AI's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple games - although both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.
On the other hand, the Hammers secured two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear strong again.
The Hammers' only on the road win this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their manager Nuno was still that team's manager.
Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - will it be the Hammers extending their streak under their manager, or the home side bouncing back?
I will choose Bournemouth, because I believe what occurred against Villa was a anomaly.
The pundit's forecast: 2-0
The guest's outlook: Bournemouth are doing well but West Ham have picked up under their boss. 2-2
AI's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for the drop before the campaign started, but they have surprised a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three wins in their past four matches.
My son told me to select Brentford striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I didn't listen.
The forward will likely score again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back the away side at Brighton's ground.
The Bees have not had great success on the road this season, and Brighton are always strong at home. Brentford will attempt to hit them on the counter-attack but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a danger.
Sutton's forecast: 2-1
The singer's prediction: It could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality turns out to be rather close. 1-1
The computer's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six matches.
Fulham have got lots of talent in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.
Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.
Their performance in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not seen anyone else disrupt the Gunners like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.
The logical choice to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously able of roughing Fulham up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat Chelsea at the end of last month.
But I am not choose that. Rather, I truly need to carry on going against the away team with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they evidently enjoy to defy my predictions.
Considering the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the sole side they have lost to is the league leaders. Marco Silva's side will be absolutely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three points.
Sutton's prediction: 1-0
The guest's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a poor streak... but they have nonetheless been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0
The algorithm's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a tough fixture to call. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten games in all competitions, but could they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
