State Militia Deployed In Preparation for Countrywide No Kings Demonstrations
GOP executives in multiple US regions have placed National Guard troops on standby in anticipation of massive protests opposing Donald Trump and his initiatives.
Protest Scale and Organization
Planners of the "No Kings" movement stated that events are planned at over 2,500 sites throughout the United States.
According to protest organizers, the last Anti-Authoritarian event in June brought out more than five million demonstrators opposing Trump's policy agenda.
Local Responses
Governors in the Lone Star State and Virginia have officially activated their state's National Guard units, though the degree of military visibility remains unclear.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott cited the "organized antifa-linked rally" as justification for mobilizing local troops.
Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin likewise directed mobilization of the commonwealth's National Guard forces.
Partisan Reactions
Demonstration leaders characterized the gatherings as challenge to Trump's "strong-arm tactics."
"The president believes his authority is absolute," they state on their website.
"Yet in America, we oppose monarchs and we refuse to yield against disorder, dishonesty, and harshness."
Several conservatives have dubbed the rallies as "Unpatriotic" events.
Kansas Senator Roger Marshall reportedly remarked ahead of the demonstrations: "We'll have to get the National Guard."
"With luck it'll be calm. I'm skeptical," he continued.
Democratic Position
Liberal representatives criticized the activation of state troops.
Texas Democrat Gene Wu asserted: "Dispatching equipped military personnel to control non-violent rallies is what monarchs and autocrats do — and Greg Abbott just proved he's one of them."
