The former Liverpool manager states coming back to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.

The German coach, who stepped down from Liverpool in 2024, indicated that rejoining the club remains an option. Klopp, post a game-changing nine-year spell which brought Champions League success and the Premier League crown in 30 years, has since taken on positions as head of global soccer with the Red Bull group and providing guidance for the DFL.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

The club claimed the Premier League in the previous campaign, but many fans who adore the manager would welcome the notion of his potential comeback. In a wide-ranging interview, he explained to the podcast host: “I stated I will never coach any other side on English soil. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...yes. It's plausible.”

“At 58 years old, which suggests the choice could be mine down the line, who knows. Do I have to make the decision today? In that case, I'd stay away. But thank God, no such pressure exists. I'll simply watch what lies ahead.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

When asked about what circumstances would need to occur to draw him back to management, he revealed he isn't eager to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “No longing for management; No desire to be under bad weather through long matches; I don’t miss going to interviews multiple times weekly or having 10-12 interviews weekly.

“No nostalgia for the changing area in that context, yet sharing a meal alongside the squad enjoying conversation, that’s nice. With many victories meaning regularly positive atmosphere at the club. Remaining with me is Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh vividly recalled for example.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise for his successor, crediting him for the adjustments which secured the championship last term. The team has suffered four in a row in every contest post heavy investment, yet he dismissed the notion it could be a decline.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. A remarkable prospect. Ekitike, superb talent. They have a strong balanced team. You don’t have to worry about Liverpool, they will be fine.”

Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota

Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of the Portuguese star, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, and the effect for the team. Jota died tragically in a car crash alongside his brother recently.

“How do you replace somebody like Diogo? It’s not about his on-field talent, his personality mattered. It's hard to picture the dressing room without him in it. Putting it into words is tough on this topic. A devastating blow for the entire squad too. Not a single person would cite it for poor performances though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room where he was omnipresent. Coping with it individually is difficult. Unbearable.”
