Two Victims Named in Brown University Shooting as Law Enforcement Press On With Manhunt for Perpetrator.

Two students who lost their lives in the weekend's violent attack on the university campus were being remembered Monday – as a manhunt for their killer continued following the release by authorities in Rhode Island of the sole person of interest in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was called “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, as stated by the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which offered condolences for her at a gathering on Sunday.

She served as second-in-command of Brown’s chapter of the College Republicans organization, as the club stated. Karoline Leavitt also shared condolences online, remarking: “There are no words. Thinking of her family and friends, especially her parents.”

An International Student

The other person killed was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the prestigious university, according to relatives.

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He had big dreams of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and aiding others,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a tribute.

The Shooting Incident

Nine more persons were wounded in the violent event in the school of engineering of Brown’s university in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Law enforcement reported late Sunday that a 24-year-old male taken into custody in a police operation at a hotel about 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was released from custody.

“There is a killer at large,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you must reassess and go in another, and this is precisely what occurred over the last approximately one day.”

Public Fear

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “We know that this is likely to cause fresh anxiety for our city”.

The gunman opened fire inside a lecture hall in the building on over the weekend, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm pistol, a authority told the news agency.

Police that raided the lodging seized two firearms and two loaded 30-round magazines when the individual was arrested, according to reports.

The Wounded Victims
